Research Programs
The Institute provides a multidisciplinary organization for research groups working on macromolecular structure and molecular design and is the administrative home for large scale collaborative projects aimed at infectious disease, cancer and parasitology.

"Structural Biology and Targeted Drug Design for AIDS"

Paul Ortiz de Montellano, Andrew Leavitt, George Kenyon, Alan Frankel, Charles Craik, Robert Stroud, Irwin Kuntz

"Proteases in Cancer"

M.A. Shuman, C.S. Craik, J.H. McKerrow, Zena Werb, L.Z. Benet

Structure Based Drug Design

MDI faculty

Faculty research spans molecular structure, structural biology, medicinal chemistry, molecular calculations, computer graphics, informatics, biopharmaceutics, enzymology, toxicology, biotechnology, and molecular medicine. Software development at UCSF is central to molecular design efforts.
